J\u00f3rv\u00edk<\/strong> <\/a>has these two characteristics: it is set in the Nordic world and was created by Stefan Feld<\/a>, one of today's game design geniuses.<\/p>\n

The name J\u00f3rv\u00edk<\/strong> <\/a>comes from Old Norse and is the name given by the Vikings to what would become the city of York, in England. At the time the place was dominated by the peoples of the North, the city was an important trading post, a busy port and an outpost for the Vikings in Great Britain. Of course, this made J\u00f3rv\u00edk the target of constant attacks, which required an efficient defense, formed by an army of Nordic fighters. Growing your prestige and wealth and joining forces to defend the city is the game's motto.<\/p>\n

\"63609_l\"In J\u00f3rv\u00edk<\/strong><\/a> each player is a Jarl, a Viking commander, vying for prestige in the city through buildings, ships, goods, artifacts and, of course, warriors. During the game, players compete for cards that are made available in the city's port through the four seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn and winter). This dispute is done through an auction system in which, for each player that shows interest in a card, its value increases. That is, the more players interested in buying a card, the higher the value of that card. And, as players give up on the purchase, the value of the card decreases.<\/p>\n

This innovative auction system causes the price of goods to fluctuate constantly during the game. And it allows players to increase the value of a certain card, just to prevent another player from buying it. Thus, each Jarl has to correctly choose his actions, decide wisely which card he wants to invest in and, above all, watch the play of others in order to block them in their growth. All this, in a very simple and fast way.<\/p>\n

Also, during the course of game time the city is attacked by the Picts and the Jarls must send their troops to help in the defense of the place. Those who send the least war power lose prestige with the other Jarls in the city, that is, they lose points. It is necessary to form warriors, in addition to being a good trader.<\/p>\n

In addition to the elegant and intelligent auction system, the game has cards that, when correctly matched, create incredible possibilities and expand each player's scoring, wealth, military strength and trading capabilities.<\/p>\n
